Nagahama Distillery is the smallest distillery in Japan, measuring about 8 tsubo (26 square meters). Nagahama is the quiet and glamorous town and adjacented to Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest and most beautiful freshwater lake. This town which has historical Nagahama Castle continues to develop year by year, and many tourists visit from spring to summer. Nagahama Roman Beer is loved by locals and tourists alike, and has gained popularity as a craft beer that can be enjoyed in and around Nagahama City. In 2016, the company launched a small whiskey distillery to meet the demand for domestic whiskey. In 2018, in preparation for the launch of single malt, It was ureleased a blended whiskey “Amahagan” using imported unblended whiskey. In 2020 after two years, they released three types of single malts that were aged in different barrels: Bourbon, Sherry and Mizunara. The Distillery has received high praise at the World Whiskeys Awards, and is expected for the future.
