Komoro Distillery – Karuizawa Distillers

Komoro Distillery is going to be constructed in Komoro city, 11 km apart from Miyota town where the closed Mercian Karuizawa Distillery is located. Mr.Koji Shimaoka, the founder of the distillery and Mr.Ian Chang, the Master Blender were looking for the best location for the production of their whiskey for a long time. Then, they decided to build the distillery in Karuizawa where is surrounded by beautiful forests and a river at the foot of imposing Mt.Asama.
Forsythe from Scotland is in charge of the design and production for the distillation facilities.
The major body construction has been started in 2022, the completion is expected in the spring of 2023. It was designed by architects Mr. Akira Sogo and Ms. Asami Sogo.
