ABOUT Fuji Gotemba
Fuji Gotenba Distillery, was originally established by Kirin Seagram, changed its name when it became a subsidiary of Kirin beer.
Producing malt and grain whiskey in the distillery, and all the process such as fermentation, distillation, aging, blending, and final bottling are completed inside. It is rare as a major Japanese whiskey maker.
This became possible because Fuji Gotenba distillery owns vast land. It produces not only whiskey but also sprits such as brandy and vodka in the same facility.
All water for the whiskey is from Mt. Fuji. The distillery tour for 80 minutes charges 500yen each and it’s a luxurious tour that includes whiskey tasting at Fuji Gotenba distillery after the factory tour.
歴史
- 1972年: Established Kirin Seagram
- 1973年: Kirin Seagram Gotenba factory started its operation
- 1974年: Released blended whiskey “Robert Brown”
- 2002年: Became a subsidiary of Kirin beer and renamed from Kirin Seagram to Kirin Distillery
- 2013年: Established a theater for distillery tour, renovated a visiter center
- 2019年: “Fuji Gotenba Distiller’s Select Single Malt 2018” won the gold award at Tokyo Whiskey & Sprits Competition 2019 (TWSC2019）
- 2021年: Expanded production facility, addition of fermenters and pot stills
- 2022年: Changed the name of distillery to Mt.Fuji Distillery
