ABOUT Eigashima
Eigashima Shuzo, a maker of sake and shochu, began manufacturing local whiskey utelizing its facilities and knowledge for producing Shochu with the high demand of imported whiskey.The distillery was constructed with Scottish style, it produces only malt whiskey on a small scale.
They use only selected barley imported from Scotland and water from the same ground water vein as their sake.
The current still house was newly built in 1984, the facilities such as pot stills and wash backs were relocated at the same time.
歴史
- 1888年: Established Eigashima Shuzo
- 1919年: Obtained a license to produce whiskey
- 1984年: Built a new distillery, Installed equipments such as pot still
- 2007年: Launched “Akashi single malt 8 Years Old”
- 2019年: Renamed White Oak Distillery to Eigashima Distillery
- 2022年: “Single malt Eigashima bourbon barrel 7 Years Old” won the silver award at Tokyo Whiskey & Spirits Competition (TWSC)
